The Neighbourhood & Location

If you are a guest with a car, you will appreciate the easy access from the A1 (the Autostrada which connects Milan and Naples) and to the Chianti countryside. We are located outside Florence’s restricted traffic zone, so it’s possible to drive right to the front door of the apartment and park nearby. The main train station (Stazione Santa Maria Novella), is 10-15 minutes by taxi and the main airport (Peretola), is 20 minutes by car.

Florence’s major attractions are within a 30 min walk. The direct, uphill walk to Piazza Michelangelo, the viewpoint for magnificent panoramas, takes about 12 minutes while the leisurely, meandering walk about 25 min. Most of the Florence’s major points of interest are within a 35 minute walk, beginning with an easy, picturesque walk along the River Arno.

We love our neighbourhood. The apartment looks out onto a courtyard, the centerpiece of which is a magnificent magnolia tree. Other windows look down onto Via di Ricorboli, a busy street during morning and evening rush hours. The Arno is 200m from the door and the wide streets and mature trees provide a marked contrast to the city centre.

Since the location is outside the area visited by most tourists, it has an authentic flavour, with Fiorentini going about their daily routines. There are dozen of small businesses of every description within 800m – everything from cafes, bakeries, delis, butcher, hardware store, pet shop, gelateria, bank, wine bar, restaurants etc. A major shopping centre is 1.3 km away.
